I didn't just write about vintage postcards but I actually buy and sell collector postcards on eBay each and every day. I have exchanged ideas, traded insider techniques and secrets with most of the big postcard sellers on eBay. I have an eBay store and keep an inventory of over 2500 at all times. This is a brief history of how I got started..... I ventured onto eBay May 9, 1999 with the idea of selling all the junk I had accumulated over the years and didn't want to bother having a garage sale. A fellow I met on eBay pointed out to me that there is a large community of postcard buyers, sellers and traders on eBay. I bought a few old postcards and found they brought back fond memories of places I had visited as a young boy traveling around the USA with my military family. My dad was a career soldier. I was soon hooked on collecting postcards of all the cities I had traveled to while moving from Army base to Army base every few years with my family. At first I though I would just try collecting and then realized I can make money doing this! A well known big postcard wholesaler I had met on eBay taught me all the insider buying and selling tips, tricks and secrets he had learned selling on eBay over the years. I was impressed as he makes a full time income from eBay postcards. My friend introduced me to other big time eBay postcard sellers. I began to make friends with many sellers and we exchange ideas about how to make huge profits from postcard selling on eBay. I soon learned that in order to make any significant amount of money it took a lot more knowledge than just buying a bunch of postcards and listing them for sale. To really prosper one needs to know all the insider secrets the eBay selling pros have learned the hard way. I paid my dues but finally got established as a successful seller.
